I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) Board-Certified Music Therapist with clinical experience working in South Carolina and the Greater New Orleans Area. My expertise includes individual sessions with hospitalized children and Central American immigrant youth eliciting acculturation issues, grief, and severe PTSD/trauma symptoms related to sexual abuse, neglect, or other events. My work with inpatient adult psych includes addressing issues related to anxiety, depression, and psychosis. Also facilitating coping skills and self-adjustment. Additional professional experience includes working with adults and elderly population diagnosed with cancer, Alzheimer/Dementia, or other medical and neurological impairments. I hold a Masters degree in Music Therapy from Loyola University New Orleans, a BM in Cello Performance from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music (San Juan, PR), and a Clinical Psychology degree from the Universidad Santo Tomas in Bogotá, Colombia. My approach to trauma work is based on traditional trauma-informed music therapy. I am also certified in the Trauma and Grief Intervention for Children (GTI) and the Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). If you have a strong connection to music and creativity, music therapy will help you explore and work on distressful emotions impacting your quality of life. Feel free to contact me for additional information.
